9 What gain have the workers from their toil? 10I have seen the business that God has given to everyone to be busy with. 11He has made everything suitable for its time; moreover, he has put a sense of past and future into their minds, yet they cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. 12I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; 13moreover, it is God’s gift that all should eat and drink and take pleasure in all their toil. 14I know that whatever God does endures for ever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it; God has done this, so that all should stand in awe before him. ~ Ecclesiastes 3:9-14
Lately, there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to get done all of the tasks that are at hand. There are deadlines to meet and that overlap with each other, vacation schedules to work around, "little surprises" that pop up to eat away at more of the time that should be devoted to other things. Life is just plain BUSY!
God has a time for everything. He wants us to enjoy our time here, even while we are busy "taking care of business." We cannot adjust anything God has already designed to have done, yet we go about our daily chores as if the world might just stop if we don't complete what we have set out to do. We often put undue stress on ourselves, because of these "deadlines" and the "busy-ness" we surround ourselves with.

When we are feeling just a bit overwhelmed with all that is filling our day, we need to just step back, inhale slowly, and look around at all that God has already done for us. By allowing ourselves to stop and just take in all that God has already accomplished and given us, we can breath easy as we look in awe of His creation and all He provides, say a "thank you, Lord," and let the peace of His presence enter our souls to refresh and restore our minds and spirits. We may then go back to our work with renewed strength, knowing that all we do, we do out of love for our Heavenly Father, who provides us with all we need.

Father in Heaven,
Thank you for times of rest and times of "busy-ness." Thank You for always providing for us even before we know what our needs are. Help us to enjoy the work You have set before us. May we glorify You in all that we do. Amen.
