Teen's Body Recovered Days After Metra Train Hits 2 In Joliet
Charlie Cooper of New Lenox and Jacob Manka of Mokena were fatally hit on the bridge over Hickory Creek near Pilcher Park.
NEW LENOX, IL — After days of searching and help from volunteers around the community, the remains of 15-year-old New Lenox resident Charlie Cooper have been found. According to the Will County Coroner’s Office, the East Joliet Fire Department recovered Cooper's body in Hickory Creek near South Joliet Street in Joliet Township. Cooper was pronounced deceased at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, three days after he and another teen were struck by a Metra train on the bridge over Hickory Creek near Pilcher Park.

Cooper and 17-year-old Jacob Manka of Mokena were struck and killed by a Metra train on May 22. The incident occurred on the bridge over Hickory Creek near Pilcher Park in Joliet.
The coroner’s office said an autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Metra police are investigating the incident.
