Vandals Spray Graffiti In New Lenox Last Week

Three separate New Lenox Police calls involving graffiti top last week's police blotter compiled by Patch.

NEW LENOX, IL - Here's your look at last week's criminal activity in the village of New Lenox. The following information was furnished by the New Lenox Police Department.

FEB. 27

DECEPTION

Reported at 2:48 p.m. by someone in the 900 block of Foxwood Court.

"The complainant advised that they recently applied for a job online. The complainant learned that the company they applied to had their web-site hacked. The complainant was concerned that their personal information may have been compromised as a result."

FEB. 28

SUSPICIOUS PERSON

Reported at 7:56 a.m. at Lincoln Highway and Cedar Road

"Several complainants indicated the subject was wearing a mask, dressed in military clothing, and carrying a back pack and a political sign. Officers located the subject in the 400 block of W. Lincoln Highway. The subject was identified as a NL resident, was unarmed and not posing a threat."

RETAIL THEFT

Reported at 11:55 p.m. at Cedar Road and Laraway Road.

"The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a Retail Theft. The complainant advised that Sebastian Gates had stolen several items from the store totaling $120.00. The officer discovered that Gates was in possession of a controlled substance which he did not have a prescription for. Gates was transported to the NLPD. VANDALISM

Reported at 4:53 p.m. in the 100 block of Walona Avenue

"The officer was dispatched to Walona Park in reference to a Graffiti complaint. The complainant advised that someone spray-painted the interior walls of the women’s bathroom."

MARCH 2

THEFT

Reported at 2:46 a.m. in the 2500 block of North Cedar Road.

"The officer was dispatched to Route 66 Food & Fuel in reference to a Theft complaint. The complainant advised that someone stole their jacket from inside the gas station."

VANDALISM

Reported at 8:49 a.m. in the 700 block of East Joliet Highway

"The officer was dispatched to Martino Junior High School Park in reference to a Graffiti complaint. The complainant advised that someone spray-painted an exterior wall of the school."

THEFT

Reported in the 1100 block of South Cedar Road

"The complainant advised that an employee was recently fired. The complainant stated that the employee stole company tools while being terminated."

VANDALISM

Reported at 2:13 p.m. in the 1000 block of Star Lane

"The complainant advised that someone spray-painted exterior wall of several businesses."

Reported at 2:13 p.m. in the 2200 block of Wellington Court

"The officer was dispatched to Wellington Court in reference to a Graffiti complaint. The complainant advised that someone spray-painted graffiti on a wall located in their backyard."

MARCH 3

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

At Lincoln Highway and Pine Street, 2:48 a.m.

"The officer was on patrol and observed a vehicle speeding. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and met with the driver, Liam Gilhooly, 22, 19900 block of Red Oak Drive, Mokena. The officer learned that Gilhooly was driving under the influence of alcohol. Gilhooly posted bond and was released."

MARCH 4

RETAIL THEFT/CONTRIBUTING TO DELINQUENCY OF MINORS

Reported at 2:23 p.m. in the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway

"The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a Retail Theft complaint. The complainant advised that Kelly Buben, 42, and two juveniles stole numerous items totaling $240 from the store. Buben, 600 block of Northgate Road in New Lenox, was charged with retail theft/contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She posted bond and was released.

MARCH 4

RETAIL THEFT

Reported at 7:01 p.m. in the 500 block of East Lincoln Highway

"The officer was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a delayed Retail Theft complaint. The complainant advised that two subjects stole several bottles of liquor from the store totaling approximately $260."
