Vandals Strike New Lenox Veterans Memorial
Several pieces of the memorial are cracked—with tire tracks visible nearby.
A tribute to veterans in New Lenox was marred Saturday night.
The memorial in the the heart of New Lenox features several large markers denoting the branches of service. Members of VFW Post 9545 shared photos of the now-cracked monuments via social media. Tire marks seen on at the scene are from public works vehicles trying to secure the damaged monuments.
“Someone just spoke volumes about their character,” wrote one commenter. ”This is truly disgusting what happened and I hope they find who did it and prosecute accordingly.”
