On Friday December 9, 2016 Harry E. Anderson VFW Post 9545 hosted 16 Veterans from the Manteno Veterans home for our Friday Night Fish Fry. They ordered anything that they wanted on the menu, and had "refreshments" and desert all provided by the Post. The Vets ranged from WWII to Vietnam era.
Post Commander Paul Barclay was on hand to greet the Vets when they arrived and got them to their Reserved tables. Many of the Post Officers as well as The Auxiliary Officers were there and instrumental to make the event possible. Each Vet told me that they really enjoyed themselves and thanked us for inviting them saying that the meal was really great.
It was an honor for Post 9545 to host them, and we will host more in the future. We thank them for coming.
