LW East Griffins Trounce the Central Knights in Playoff Action: Photos and Video

LW West Warriors shut out Morgan Park, but LW North falters in overtime.

Lincoln Way East knocked down its district rival, Lincoln Way Central, in a 42-7 drubbing in the snow Friday night. The Griffins will advance to the second round of the IHSA Class 7A playoffs. East will face Reavis High next weekend. Liam Morrissey scored two touchdowns for East and ran for 191 yards. Quarterback Mike Weller threw for 218 yards, two touchdown passes and one running touchdown of his own. Three Griffins players picked off passes: Brad Toepfer, Lee Lieser and Kyle Keuch.

Lincoln Way West also will advance to the playoffs, shutting out Morgan Park 28-0 in a dominant performance in the Class 6A matchup. West will face the winner of Saturday’s Oak Forest High vs. Richards High game. Adam Knerr scored two touchdowns for West. Connor Lowman and Gabe Montalvo each scored , too.

Lincoln Way North, however, must wait until next year to rise again. The Phoenix lost in overtime to Wheaton-Warrenville, 17-10. North let the game slip away late in the fourth quarter in the 7A playoff round.
