Walmart Thief Caught At Gas Station: New Lenox Cops
It's time for your weekly look at criminal activity in New Lenox.

NEW LENOX, IL -Here's a look at some of the criminal activity investigated by the New Lenox Police Department during the past week. The following information was furnished to Patch courtesy of police officials.
AUGUST 6
The complainant advised that they had a drone for sale on Facebook. Someone indicated they wanted to purchase the drone and sent a fraudulent check to the seller for more than the asking price. The person gave instructions to the seller to deposit the check and send the excess money back along with the drone. The complainant recognized the scam and ended the transaction.

AUGUST 7
- Police were dispatched to the 7-Eleven in the 100 block of East Lincoln Highway in reference to an armed robbery taking place around 12:30 a.m. Two men had ntered the store, one armed with a handgun. The offenders demanded money and also stole lottery tickets before fleeing the store.

7-Eleven robbers, image via police in Shorewood. - Police were dispatched to the Jacob Lowell Park for a car burglary. The complainant advised that someone broke their passenger door window and entered their vehicle. The offender then stole the victim’s purse which had been on the front passenger seat.
- Police were dispatched to the Buffalo Wild Wings on Nelson Road in reference to an attempted theft. The complainant advised their purse was on a stool next to them at the bar. A man grabbed the purse and tried to run out of the restaurant. The complainant caught the offender at the door and recovered the purse. The offender fled from the restaurant.

- The officer was dispatched to the 1000 block of Grand Mesa Avenue in reference to a criminal damage to property complaint. Someone broke out the back window to their vehicle.
- The officer was dispatched to the Currency Exchange in the 300 block of West Lincoln Highway in reference to a fraud complaint. The complainant advised that someone cashed a $900 check which later proved to be fraudulent.
- The complainant advised that someone stole an Amazon package that was delivered to their residence in the 1200 block of Timber Place.
AUGUST 9
- The officer was dispatched to Walmart around 4:20 a.m. in reference to someone who just committed a retail theft. The responding officers located the offender near the Murphy Oil Gas Station. According to police, the officers learned that the offender, Brandon Koniuszy, 25, of the 2300 block of Palmer Ranch Drive, New Lenox, had stolen two Xbox game systems valued at approximately $800. The games systems were recovered. Koniuszy was transported to the NLPD and later transferred to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
- The officer was dispatched to the 18800 block of Spring Creek Street in reference to a delayed burglary to motor vehicle report. The complainant advised that someone entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in their driveway overnight. Taken were gift cards and reward cards.
