WalMart Thief Wasn't Allowed There: Cops

Criminal damage to property and burglary to motor vehicle incidents also reported in New Lenox over the past week.

The following information is from the New Lenox Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Criminal Damage to Property

An officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of N. Cedar Road at 4:45 p.m. on March 2 in reference to a complaint of criminal damage to property. The complainant advised that two street signs were knocked down by an unknown vehicle. The officer observed the street signs on the ground and observed tire tracks leading up to the signs.

An officer was dispatched to the 2800 block of Northwind Drive at 9:04 a.m. on March 5 in reference to a complaint of criminal damage to property. The complainant advised that an unknown person threw an object at their house breaking a window of their home.

Burglary to Motor Vehicle

An officer was dispatched to the 2400 block of E. Lincoln Highway in reference to a complaint of a burglary to motor vehicle at 7:16 p.m. on March 2. The complainant advised that an unknown person entered their unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the LA Fitness parking lot and removed property without permission.

An officer was dispatched to the 1400 block of Ginger Lane at 5:07 a.m. on Match 6 in reference to a complaint of a burglary to motor vehicle. The complainant advised that an unknown person broke a window of their vehicle and made entry while it was parked in the driveway of their home. Once inside the vehicle the subject(s) took a wallet without permission.

Retail Theft/Criminal Trespass to Property

Matthew Mason, 33, of Herscher, Illinois was charged with retail theft and criminal trespass to property at 2:15 p.m. on March 3 at the WalMart in the 500 block of E. Lincoln Highway. The complainant advised that Mason took kids toys from the store and exited without paying for the items. The officer learned that Mason had previously been issued a no trespass order by WalMart.
