Williamson's, New Lenox (2 of 5 stars)
The good: These garlic roasted mashed potatoes have a more subtle garlic taste, not one that's overpowering. It makes a good side to Williamson's steak.
The bad: I like mashed potatoes to be creamy, but normally don't mind a bit of potato skin mixed in. The skin was way too prevalent in this dish, though, to the point that the overall taste was closer to the skins than the potatoes.

Tommy Nevin's, Frankfort (3.5 of 5 stars)
The good: The mashed potatoes at Tommy Nevin's are done in a rustic, homemade style, with pieces of skin intact. They were smooth and not too starchy, something that can be common with restaurant mashed potatoes.
The bad: These mashed potatoes needed a little something more, gravy, garlic, seasoning, loads of butter and cream. The taste wasn't bland, but it wasn't particularly memorable, either.

Pepper Mill Family Restaurant, Mokena (3.5 of 5 stars)
The good: Nothing fancy, just straight-up mashed potatoes like Mom would make. Good gravy (which I've always wanted to say in a literal fashion) and a nice, creamy consistency.
The bad: Not much to it. None of the fancy, foodie stuff. Just good old fashioned mashed 'taters.
