Wrestling: Providence's Klimara Wins 2nd State Title; L-W East's Langenderfer Joins Party, Too

Providence's Eddie Klimara won the 126-pound championship in the Class 3A state tournament. The state title was the second for Klimara and capped his four-year run to a record of 158-5. Lincoln-Way East's Kyle Langenderfer captured the 138-pound title.

Providence Catholic's Eddie Klimara is a state wrestling champion again. Lincoln-Way East's Kyle Langenderfer is a newcomer to the party.

Klimara (42-1) defeated Plainfield Central's Nathan Davis 6-0 to win the 126-pound championship in the Class 3A state tournament Saturday night at Assembly Hall in Champaign.

The state title for Klimara was his second and capped his four-year run to a record of 158-5. He won the 103-pound state championship as a fresham wrestling with the Celitcs. He added second-place finishes at 119 as a sophomore and 125 as a junior.

Klimara advanced to his fourth straight state finals appearance with a 5-0 semifinal victory over Jon Marmolejo of Glenbard North. Klimara won his two previous matches by a combined 24-4 margin.

Langenderfer (41-2) defeated Tim Corse of St. Rita 5-4 to win the 138-pound state championship. The title win followed on the heels of Langenderfer's 7-6 victory over Greg Jacquez of West Aurora in the semifinals.
