I recently sat down with Father Dennis O'Neill who will celebrate 10 years as pastor of on August 15, 2011.
Q. When did you first know you wanted to become a priest?
A. I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be a priest. It is something I always knew I wanted.

Q. What parishes were you assigned to before coming to St. Martha's.
A. I was assigned to St. Thomas the Apostle in Hyde Park from 1973 to 1980; Christ the King in Beverly from 1980 to 1986; St. Clotilde in Chatham from 1986 to 1993 and St. Benedice on Irving Park from 1993 to 2001.

Q. What makes St. Martha's Parrish special?
A. The people of the parish make St. Martha's a special place. I would equate them to a United Nations melting pot. We have parishioner's from at least 20 different ethnic groups whose primary language is not English. They all get along.
Q. Are you a Cubs fan or a Sox fan?
A. I'm a big Sox fan. I grew up on the south side. My parents met at Comiskey Park.
