MORTON GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Morton Grove Police Department as a record of police activity. Readers are reminded that an arrest by the police does not constitute a finding of guilt, criminal charges — representing merely accusations by the state — are often dropped or reduced and all persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Police were told someone drove into the front of a store in the 6000 block of Dempster Street and broke the front window on July 23. Nothing was reported missing from the store.

STOLEN VEHICLE

Someone reportedly stole an Amazon truck out of a parking lot in the 8200 block of Austin Avenue on July 27.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Morton Grove resident told police someone used her information to open two loans out of state on Aug. 1.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A Morton Grove resident told police she found a scratch on the bumper of her car that had been parked in the 8900 block of Waukegan Road on Aug. 4.


ARRESTS

DUI

Jeff S. Russell, 37, of the 3100 block of West Fargo Avenue, was arrested Aug. 4 in the 8500 block of Menard Avenue after he was pulled over for traffic violations and failed field sobriety tests. Police said Russell refused to provide samples of his breath, blood or urine.

REVOKED LICENSE

Gabriel Navarro, 38, of the 1800 block of Mannheim Road in Des Plaines, was arrested Aug. 4 in the vicinity of the intersection of Oakton Street and Austin Avenue after he was stopped for a traffic violation and police determined his license had already been revoked.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Giovanni L. Renteria, 27, of the 200 block of Kedzie Street in Evanston, was arrested Aug. 5 in the 8300 block of Major Avenue. Police said he was involved in a verbal alteraction with a friend. He was allegedly told to leave but he returned. Police said he broke the front window with a landscape brick.

DUI

Pratik Cokshi, 30, of the 8600 block of Drake Avenue in Skokie, was arrested near the intersection of Dempster Street and the Edens Expressway. Police said he was stopped for a traffic violation, failed a field sobriety test and provided a breath sample showing a blood alcohol content of 0.223.
