Just a quick reminder folks that each year from Oct 15 to Dec 7, seniors on Medicare, are allowed to make changes to their Part D prescription drug plans, which will become effective on Jan 1 of the oncoming year. You don't need an agent or a carrier to attempt to enroll you in Part D. Simply have your medications in front of you and call 1-800-633-4227. That's Medicare's toll free number. They administer all Part D plans. You can enroll right over the phone with them, for Part D. They will ask about you and your medications. They will then go online to search the available options based on your meds and your finances. They administer all Part D plans and could care less which one you select. They want you happy and all this is done over the phone. Be sure to insist on Stand Alone Part D which will go with any Medicare Supplement you have. Ask themabout premiums, deductibles and co-payments before making your selection. Make sure your medications are in the formulary of the carrier Medicare offers to you. What good is a lower premium if your medication is not in that formulary? Your Part D ID Card & policy will be sent to you via mail. Normally Part D premiums are taken directly out of your social security check, just as the Part B premium is done now. This Annual Open Enrollment Period is also the time you are given to switch back to original Medicare as your primary carrier (if you have an MA, medicare advantage HMO plan). This Annual Open Enrollment Period of Oct 15 thru Dec 7 each year is MEANINGLESS to those seniors with Medicare as their primary carrier. *You don't enroll annually in Medicare. Medicare you keep for life and supplements you keep or change at your discretion, at any time. Very simple. Hope all this helps. As always, I'm always a click or phone call away to assist in your transition to Medicare, or to a more affordable supplement. Until next time. Stay Healthy...Glenn 847-965-1037
