BATIK SURFACE DESIGN SERIES 2014 ADULT
Evidence of early examples of batik have been found in the Far East, Middle East, Central Asia and India from over 2000 years ago.  Batik applications include wearable art, interior treatments, wall hangings, and has become wildly popular within the quilting community.  This process of waxing and dyeing can be repeated with many colors to create elaborate and colorful designs.
During this class students will learn about the history of batik and view samples from various regions.  Students will learn a variety of techniques to apply resist and explore dying methods.  Wax and dyes are provided by instructor.  Students are required to bring 1 yd white cotton muslin and foam board (appx 20” x 30” available at craft or  office supply store).
