Bicyclist Hurt After Metra Train Hits Him at Morton Grove Crossing
The 53-year-old man tried crossing the tracks Friday morning while the signals were on and the gates were down, police say.

Morton Grove, IL—An unidentified cyclist was hurt Friday after he was hit lightly by a train while riding through a Metra crossing at Dempster Street and Lehigh Avenue while the gates were down, the Morton Grove Champion reports.
The 53-year-old man was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with cuts on his body, the report stated. Police say the cyclist was awake and talking when paramedics arrived and treated him, the report added.
The train on the Milwaukee District North line hit the man at about 9:15 a.m. while the crossing's signals were on and the gates were down, according to the Champion. The accident caused northbound service to be suspended for around 30 minutes, the report stated.
