'An Incredible Return On Investment' URGENT..Please Vote On Tuesday March 20

Our award winning schools are magnets for new business, families looking to relocate and newlyweds looking to start families.

On Tuesday, March 20th, the first day of spring, the residents of Niles and Morton Grove will have the unique opportunity to help stabilize, solidify and maintain our community structure.

One of the reasons I chose to recently relocate from Chicago to Niles was the very reasonable property taxes. The taxes in Niles amount to a "pinhead" next to what Chicago demands from homeowners, who are asked to smile and keep funding failure and waste.

In my view, with isolated exceptions, the Chicago Public School system is a tragedy on several levels. Yet the taxes to continue to fund the failure, skyrocket in Chicago...I expect Chicago to implement a "breathing tax" by July 1, 2012.

Please good blog readers, be kind enough to visit www.golfkids67.org to get a clear idea of what exactly is at stake, going forward. Our area is blessed with an abundance of commercial tax revenue, keeping residential rates reasonable. That said, we have not had a referendum since 1969, which shows prudent management and stewardship of resources coupled with regular funding from the state.

The state funding has gone away as Illinois finds itself awash in red ink. Cuts, changes and modifications have already been made. Individual sacrifices and efforts I was recently made aware of are awe inspiring. But it's time to step up, as a community, to help stabilize the ship, going forward.

Golf School District 67 is hoping for 2 "Yes Votes"...one for facilities and one for operations. To cut to the chase, Niles residents would pay (approximately) an extra $85 per thousand in property tax while Morton Grove residents would pay (approximately)an extra $78 per thousand in property tax. Not exactly a "king's ransom" but it would mean "the world" to our school system going forward.

Personally, I have no children myself, but that is irrelevant. The importance to the community, in sustaining scholastic excellence and opportunity, is clear. "Of all the local neighborhood amenities that can influence a buyer's decision to purchase a home, proximity to good quality schools is one of the most influential." (National Association of Realtors).

Spacial considerations preclude me from including charts and graphs and statistics with this latest blog entry but the website www.golfkids67.org should further amplify what's at stake here. There is an old medical axium..."The Greatest Good For The Greatest Number." Folks, I respectfully submit that this would be achieved by just two terribly important "YES" votes, one for facilities and one for operations, on March 20,2012. Until next time...Stay healthy & keep smiling...
