Check In On Seniors Who Are Susceptible During Local Power Outages

Caregivers: Check on your senior! If you provide care to an elderly individual who lives alone, they may be at risk from the power loss and the heat in Chicago & Niles.

Many are without power right now after the storm that passed through Chicago and the North Shore Monday morning.  In June during a similar storm outbreak, many were without power for 3 to 4 days.  Seniors are extremely susceptible to heat stroke and dehydration in the hot weather.

Also, without electricity, elderly individuals, who are more likely to have poor vision to begin with, are at higher risk of a fall.  If you know of or provide care to a senior who lives alone, check on them.   .
