Free Senior Emergency Kits for Caregivers

In this past Friday’s USA Today there is an excellent article which cites a study done by Home Instead Senior Care.  Home Instead Senior Care conducted a study of 600 adults ages 45-65 and found that significant numbers of adult children don’t know where mom or dad keep their safety deposit key, where the financial records are, or how many medications they take.

Most family caregivers have done no advance planning.  In our Chicago / Park Ridge office we see many instances where families are scrambling to put services in place, and are having a hard time doing so because things like a Power of Attorney or Advanced Directives haven’t been taken care of.

Our office in Skokie/Chicago is offering a free Senior Emergency Kit^SM which can help ensure that family caregivers have fast and easy access to important information about loved ones in case of an emergency call.

This resource was developed with the assistance of Humana Points of Caregiving®. It is designed to help family caregivers gather details about a senior's doctors, pharmacy and insurance company, medications and dosages, as well as allergies, power of attorney and other important information.  The kit can be downloaded from our www.caregiverstress.com website, and we have a limited number of hard copies available.  Call our Skokie/Chicago office with questions at 847-673-1250.
