Morton Grove Car Show Draws Hundreds To Village Plaza

People from all over the Chicagoland area come together to admire classic cars and enjoy a summer tradition in Morton Grove.

If you were one of hundreds who wandered through the Village Plaza shopping center last Thursday evening you may have thought you traveled back in time. Over 100 cars ranging from a Ford Model T to a 2011 Chevrolet Corvette were on display at the that is sponsored by , Monday Night Car Shows and the Morton Grove Economic Development Commission. Spectators and participants didn't go hungry because Kappy's fired up their outdoor BBQ grill and served your choice of a hamburger, polish sausage or bratwurst with a bag of chips and a bottle of pop for the bargain price of $5. Even Miss Teen Illinois visited the show to admire the cars, most of which were manufactured before her parents were born. A magician and stilt walker entertained the kids while members of Morton Grove's police, fire and public works departments mingled with the crowd. Also seen at the show were Mayor Dan Staackmann and Village Trustees Bill Grear, John Thill, Maria Toth and Shel Marcus.

The next car show is scheduled for Thursday August 11 at 6:00 pm (rain date is the following Thursday). Note that a portion of the proceeds from the auction are donated to the Niles West and Niles North high school automobile mechanics training programs. If your business would like to be a show sponsor or donate a product or service for the auction please contact show manager Rick Glickman at (847) 433-2400 or email: rick@mondaynightcarshows.com
