National Police Week!

Learn about National Police Week Events.

The Niles Police Department will be commemorating National Police Week on May 15, 2011 at 8:00 a.m. (cst) with a Flag Ceremony. At that time members of the Niles Police Department and Honor Guard will be lowering the Flag to honor those Police Officers who given the ultimate sacrifice in their duties as a Police Officer. The event will occur directly in front of the flag pole in front of the Police Department off of Touhy Avenue.

Events planned in Washington DC include:

  • 5/15/2011 at 11:00 a.m.(est) 30th Annual National Peace Officer Memorial Service, West Front of U.S. Capital Building
  • 5/15/2011 immediately following the Memorial Service, Wreath Laying Ceremony sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police at the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial.
  • 5/16/2011 at 9:00 a.m.(est) National Police Survivors Conference – Concerns of Police Survivors – Hilton Alexandria mark Center

  •  5/5/2011 at 9:30 a.m. - Illinois Police Officers Memorial Ceremony at West Side Christian Church in Springfield, Illinois followed with a ceremony at the State Capital grounds at 11:00 a.m. (est)
  • 5/10/2011 at 11:00 a.m. - The Peace Officer Memorial Foundation of Cook County at Cermak Woods Forest Preserve at 7601 W. Ogden Avenue.
