A Holiday Mental Smoothie, the second concert of the 2019-2020 season for the Niles Metropolitan Chorus on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m., featuring the seventh annual D-I-Y Handel’s Messiah, A Little Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott, and the SJB Laudate Children’s Choir will make great use of the superb acoustics at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Avenue, Niles.

The seventh annual D-I-Y Handel’s Messiah and A Little Jazz Mass by Bob Chilcott featuring the SJB Laudate Children’s Choir and Niles Metropolitan Chorus is scheduled Thursday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m. at St. John Brebeuf Church, 8307 N. Harlem Avenue, Niles. This second concert of the season, entitled A Holiday Mental Smoothie will once again make great use of the superb acoustics at church which has been a community landmark since its construction in 1964, according to Marek Rachelski, NMC artistic director and conductor.

The third NMC concert, A Brain Illumination, is Sunday, March 29, at 3:30 p.m. This program features In the Company of Heaven by Benjamin Britten, Hymn to the Creator of Light by John Rutter, and Luminous Night of the Soul by Ola Gjeilo.

The Musica Lumina Orchestra will celebrate Beethoven’s 250th with an exploration of his music and the works of his contemporaries on Sunday, April 26, at 3:30 p.m.

The Niles Metropolitan Chorus, a community choir with members from all faiths and walks of life, welcomes new members to join this dynamic group. Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church which has been an integral part of Niles for 65 years.
