'Death God' Calls 911 Threatening To Shoot People: Police

When cops showed up at the man's house, they found him smoking something and acting irrationally.

NILES, IL — A Niles man faces gun charges after he allegedly placed a threatening phone call to police. A man who identified himself as "Death God" called 911 around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 22. and told dispatchers that he was "going to shoot people," according to police.

Officers went to the source of the call, the 8500 block of North Oriole Avenue, where they found a man smoking what appeared to be cannabis.

According to police reports, the man walked out of his home and was "acting irrational." Police said he was eventually convinced to listen to authorities on the scene and was taken to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

Two days later, the man was arrested at Lutheran General Hospital after Niles police investigators said they found an unlicensed loaded shotgun and drug paraphernalia in the man's house.

James Stack-Nechistak, 27, of the 8500 block of North Oriole Avenue, was arrested at 10:50 a.m. on Jan. 24. He was charged with one count of possession of a gun without a firearm owner's identification card and two counts of possession of ammunition without proper identification, police said.

According to the Cook County Sheriff's Office, he was being held Friday at Cook County Jail in lieu of 10 percent of a $25,000 bond.

Stack-Nechistak was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

It was not immediately clear what he was smoking.
