Don't Miss Morton Grove's 8th Annual Pie Contest on August 4
If you're a fan of shows like "The Great British Bake Off" or 'Martha Bakes", you'll want to participate in this annual event.

Are you a fan of TV shows about cooking like "The Great British Bake Off" or "Martha Stewart Bakes"? If you are, then you must make plans to attend the 8th Annual Morton Grove Farmers' Market Pie Contest on Saturday, August 4, 2018. Judging begins at 10 a.m. and winners will be announced at 11 a.m.
A favorite part of the summer's activities at the Morton Grove Farmers' Market, a group of contestants will once again submit their pies to be judged and hopefully come home with the blue ribbon. Those wishing to take home a slice or two of any or all of the pies (two are baked by each participant) can do so. The proceeds will be given to the Niles Township Food Pantry. A donation of $2 per slice is suggested.
If you ever wanted to be named a "star baker", now' is your time to dig out grandma's favorite recipe and go shopping for the ingredients (and there's lots of tasty berries and peaches at the weekly MG Farmers' market for you to choose from). Local bakers are already looking over recipes and planning their baking strategies to win the top prize at the contest. If you want to be one of them, enter the contest by simply picking up a form at the Information Booth at the market or click on this link and submit your information at: http://mgfarmersmarket.org/mgf... where you will find a full set of the rules and regulations for the contest.

There will be a First, Second and Third Place winner named by a panel of impartial judges and these winners will receive $50, $25 and $10 in Market Bucks Coupons besides having bragging rights as this year's winners. The pies will be judged on appearance, taste (filling), taste (crust) and overall composition. As Mary Berry of the British baking show would say "no soggy bottoms please!".
"Ready, Set, BAKE!" and we'll see you under our tents at the MGFM on August 4th.
