One of Chicago’s favorite duos, Anne Burnell (formerly Anne Pringle) and Mark Burnell have been performing together for the past 14 years to national and international acclaim. From Les Trois Maillets and Le St. Nicholas in Paris and Café Katz and Media Café B&W in Amsterdam to New York’s Judys* Chelsea and Don’t Tell Mama, they have delighted audiences the world over with their unique jazz/pop and a cappella stylings. A staple on the Chicago scene, they have performed at some of the Windy City’s top spots including Davenport’s, Andy’s Jazz Club, and Park West and Drury Lane Water Tower Theatre with Chicago Cabaret Professionals. They have made several appearances at festivals throughout the Midwest, the Taste of Chicago, the Chicago Humanities Festival with Andrea Marcovicci, and the national anthem for both the Chicago Cubs & White Sox. Anne & Mark were fellows at the Cabaret Symposium and named in“Chicago’s Top Ten” for 2002 & 2003 by New York’s Cabaret Hotline. Their acclaimed CD of duets “Little Things We Do Together” has been featured on Chicago radio stations WGN, WXRT, WDCB and nationally on Radio One Network. The CD featured the single “Heaven Down Here” which was co-written by comedian/actor Jim Carrey. Anne Burnell’s release “Blues in the Night", features arrangements by Count Basie Band veteran Bob Ojeda, Mark Burnell, as music director and pianist, and Chicago’s legendary violinist Johnny Frigo. “Blues in the Night” which celebrates the Harold Arlen songbook garnered airplay nationwide on numerous NPR and jazz radio stations across the country , and internationally on Jazz & Blues Tour Radio, Amsterdam, and Canada, and charted top ten status on CMJ charts.
