Property Tax Appeal Seminar for Taxpayers

Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Dan Patlak is hosting a seminar on Thursday, January 12, 2012, 6:30 p.m. at the Leyden Township Office. The seminar will be offered to taxpayers in Leyden Township seeking to appeal their 2011 property tax assessments.

Along with the participation of Leyden Township Assessor Al Biancalana, Township Supervisor Bradley Stephens, Cook County Commissioner Peter N. Silvestri and State Representative Angelo “Skip” Saviano, the Board of Review hopes that the seminars will educate taxpayers on how to file a successful tax appeal in a time when the economy is putting added pressures on home and business owners.

The hour-long session will include a presentation by Commissioner Patlak that will help taxpayers understand how property taxes are calculated and explain the appeal procedure of the Board of Review. Before the end of the evening, taxpayers will have an opportunity to work with analysts from the Board of Review to address their specific questions.

The event is free to the public and there is no fee to appeal.

Property owners in Elmwood Park, River Grove, Franklin Park, Schiller Park, unincorporated Leyden Township and the Leyden portion of Northlake, Norridge, Rosemont, Melrose Park and Park Ridge are invited to attend.

Taxpayers are asked to bring a copy of their most recent tax bill.

Please contact the Board of Review at (312) 603-3644 with any questions.

Taxpayers may also appeal online by visiting www.cookcountyboardofreview.com.
