Fake ComEd Caller Costs Close To $1,000 In Gift Cards: Morton Grove Crime

MORTON GROVE, IL — The following is a record of arrests made by and incidents reported to the Morton Grove Police Department. Criminal charges can be dropped or reduced, arrests are not indications of guilt and everyone is presumed innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
ARRESTS
DUI

Trung Quoc Chau, 35, of the 2700 block of Farragut in Chicago, was stopped for a traffic violation in the 9000 block of Waukegan Road on May 27 and was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, police said. His court date has been set for June 26.

Bernard Rivera Cardenas, 21, of the 4700 block of Keystone in Chicago, was stopped for a traffic violation on May 25 and was found to be driving while his driver’s license was suspended, police said. His court date was set for June 26.
RETAIL THEFT
Siglinde L. Hancock, 57, of the 7000 block of Greenleaf in Niles, was inside an Aldi grocery store in the 7900 block of Golf Road when she concealed items in her bags and left the store. Although she initially fled the scene she was found, identified and arrested on May 24, police said.
RETAIL THEFT
Mi Suk Ko, 55, of the 6300 block of Estes in Chicago, concealed items in her clothing and left the Menards store in the 6300 block of Oakton without paying for them on May 23. She was issued a local retail theft citation, paid the fine and was released.
METH MANUFACTURING, VIOLATION OF AN ORDER OF PROTECTION, RESISTING ARREST
Douglas F. Johnson, 34, of the 9200 block of Sayre in Morton Grove, was arrested May 16 at his home for violating an active order of protection, police said. He resisted officers' efforts to arrest him. Police also found he was manufacturing methamphetamine in his backyard using a "one-pot" system.
RETAIL THEFT
John F. McErlean, 18, of the 700 block of Greenwood in Park Ridge, was arrested May 18 for retail theft after allegedly concealing clothing and exiting the TJ Maxx on the 7200 block of Dempster without paying.
NO VALID LICENSE
Jose J. Rivera Agosto, 35, of the 2500 block of Milwaukee in Chicago, was arrested May 19 after he was pulled over for a traffic violation and found to be driving without a valid license.
VIOLATION OF AN ORDER OF PROTECT
Kevin M. Murphy, 55, of the 6800 block of Beckwith in Morton Grove, was arrested May 19 at his last known address for violating an order of protection by returning to a protected residence.

ILLEGAL USE OF CREDIT CARD
On May 13, a caller reported someone illegally used their credit card in Florida to make about $200 in purchases.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
On May 18, a caller on the 9000 block of Oleander reported that someone had forced open the rear door to their home and burglarized it.
IDENTITY THEFT
On May 19, a resident of the 8600 block of Waukegan reported that someone had used their personal information to open multiple accounts.
BURGLARY
On May 20, a caller reported that someone had climbed through the window of a business in the 8500 block of Fernald and stole $300 to $400 out of the cash register.
IDENTITY THEFT
On May 20, a caller on the 5600 block of South Park reported someone had opened a Comcast Xfinity Account in his name.
BURGLARY (TO VEHICLE)
On May 21, a caller in the 9000 block of Waukegan reported that someone stole their wallet out of an unlocked car.
THEFT
On May 21, a caller in the 6300 block of Oakton reported someone cashed in their Menards rebate check.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
On May 23, a caller told police someone removed the driver’s side mirror from her vehicle parked in the 7700 block of Acadia.
BURGLARY FROM VEHICLE
On May 24, a caller reported someone entered their unlocked vehicle on the 9200 block of Marion and stole $10.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS TO VEHICLE
On May 24, a caller reported someone entered and ransacked their unlocked vehicle on the 9100 block of National.
FRAUD
On May 24, a resident of the 9200 block of Waukegan told police someone had called claiming to be a ComEd employee. The purported employee told the man that in order to keep his power on he needed to pay $998.56 that he owed. The man bought two money cards and paid with those over the phone.
