FBI Releases Images Of Niles Bank Robber

An armed man wearing a fake beard and a Chicago White Sox hat robbed a Chase Bank Saturday on Dempster Street, authorities said.

NILES, IL — The FBI released images Monday from a Saturday afternoon bank robbery at a Chase Bank branch in Niles.

The bank robber was described as in his 30s, from 5 foot, 2 inches to 5 foot, 3 inches, between 120 and 150 pounds and Hispanic with a small build and medium complexion, according to the FBI.

He wore a fake beard, a recent version of a 1980s-style Chicago White Sox hat, silver mirrored sunglasses, a black hooded sweatshirt beneath a black vest, black jeans and black shoes.

Around 2:10 p.m., the man walked up to a teller at the 7007 Dempster St. location and passed a note demanding money, according to Niles police. He showed her a gun tucked into his waistband and she emptied a drawer. Police said he fled in an unidentified vehicle east on Dempster Street.

The FBI is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading directly to the arrest of the bank robber, who should be considered armed and dangerous, according to a bulletin issued by the FBI. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact the FBI's Chicago field office at 312-421-6700.
