Gemini Middle School McTeacher's Night was a Pie-Smashing Success

Niles|Gemini Middle School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts.

Teachers and support staff from Gemini Middle School volunteered behind the counter on Thursday, February 20th at the Niles McDonald's located on Milwaukee Ave., where they served students and their families in their annual fundraiser.

Teachers Jane Rezina, Lisa Willett, and Assistant Principal Brian Gariti enjoyed the duty of wearing an apple pie costume encouraging students to purchase a delicious apple pie while teachers tended the front counter, served ice cream, and assisted in table service delivering delicious food to families. The students and families especially enjoyed seeing School Resource Officer Kevin Regal help sell apple pies and earn funds for Gemini Middle School.

The proceeds from the 240 apple pies sold will help support the Gemini PTO. Nicole Liberto, a 6th-grade science teacher, said "It was a pie-smashing success!"

Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher's Night sales were donated directly to the Gemini PTO to be used for student programs.

Gemini Middle School Assistant Principal Erica Perelgut was quoted saying "What a fantastic event! I loved how many Gemini families showed up to support the school. More Pies!!"

David Bear, Owner/Operator of the Niles McDonald's and the Bear family were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and community.
