Girl At Bus Stop Lured By Man With SUV: Niles Police

NILES, IL — Niles police are seeking more information about a man who allegedly accosted a girl waiting for a school bus Friday morning. The man walked up to the girl around 7:10 a.m. in the 7200 block of Conrad Avenue, near the intersection with Harlem Avenue south of Dempster Street, according to a Niles Police Department community alert.

Police said the man first asked the girl for directions to a restaurant. Then, he asked her if she wanted to "skip school" and "hang out with him," according to police.

The man was described as a 40-year-old, 6-foot-tall, 250-pound white man with short brown hair and eyeglasses, according to the alert.

When the school bus arrived, a nearby parent who had noticed the man told the girl to get on the bus, police said. The man then walked away and got into a white Toyota Highlander that had been been parked near the bus stop.

Niles police asked anyone who sees the man near school bus stops or parks to call the police.
