Half A Century “21” …Nick Marino & Morton Grove Today!
Getting To Know A Morton Grove Chamber Director

The Morton Grove Chamber has been helping business in the village since 1926. There have been many who served on the Board over time. Nick Marino of Century 21 has been involved for a half century helping the community in many ways.
Nick Marino continues to be a part of the ever - changing Morton Grove community since he first opened his real estate office a half century ago in 1972 - called Century 21 Marino. Nick is still very much on top of his game having recently merged with Century 21 Affiliated (still located at 5800 Dempster Street in Morton Grove). This new structure allows Marino to get back to basics of helping people as a real estate broker who can now spend more of his time and talent directly helping buyers and sellers. The new structure allows a team at the office to handle all the technology and management services that are vital to make today’s real estate business run smoothly.
Attributes that are hard to find in any century are knowledge, experience, reliability and trustworthiness which define Nick Marino. Nick has operated with those characteristics coupled with personal service. This has made him a leader in business and the Morton Grove community. Professionally, he is a Past President of two real estate Boards and Nick also serves as Chair of the Morton Grove Foundation which has raised money for local charities for over thirty years. Nick continues to serve as a director and officer of the Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce (twice serving as its President).

Nick shared some of his thoughts on the village and its people along with the business, friends and family in Morton Grove…
About The Real Estate Business - “I am a people person! Every day is a little different in our business but the main thing is dealing with people. The vast majority of those we deal with are truly wonderful and friendly. I can’t tell you the number of terrific individuals that I have dealt with in a half century. I’ve been friends with so many, attending their weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs and funerals. You become part of people’s lives - that is what the real estate business is about.” and “ The real estate business changed a lot over the years with the advent of technology. It is not as face-to-face friendly as it was, which is why this my working with Century 21 Affiliated allows me to get back to that one on one service.”

About Morton Grove - “Morton Grove is a suburb that in one respect was very suburban, the other respect very urban as it was close to the city and transportation.” and “It really hasn’t changed much. It is still about the same size as it was way back when. Obviously, there has been some development. It still maintains an urban/suburban feel to it.” Also, “We went to great lengths to build the Chamber of Commerce. It was very small and over the years, we have built it up to about 200 members. We are very much involved in the community. There is a lot of camaraderie and you get to know each other.”
About His Family - “My wife Mary and I have two children and five granddaughters. She recently retired from operating her own insurance agency in the village for many years and now spends some time helping me in the real estate business but more time with our grandchildren as those are life's true Blessings.
