“How to Speak Midwestern” by Ted McClelland

Find out about the changing Chicago accent at this event with author Ted McClelland at the Morton Grove Public Library on August 6 at 2 PM.

The Chicago accent is changing, because Chicago is changing. Join author Edward McClelland as he discusses his new book, How to Speak Midwestern. Learn how settlers from western New England established the building blocks of the accent, how European immigrants added "dese, dem and dose," and why some younger speakers sound less "Chicago" than their parents.

No registration is required for this event. For more information about this event or any upcoming events, call 847-929-5101 or visit www.mgpl.org.
