Library Executive Director Addresses COVID-19

Niles-Maine Library Director offers resources and addresses what steps the Library is taking to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

(Annamarie Aiuppa | Niles-Maine District Library)

To Our Niles-Maine District Library Patrons—

We are keeping a close eye on the COVID-19 (coronavirus) news, and of course since we are a Library, we know the most reliable sources of information. Some of these are:

The Center for Disease Control

We have stocked up on cleaning supplies, we have increased our cleaning of high touch areas, and we have spread out some of our tables and chairs. But you should know that the situation is changing rapidly. We are looking at different possibilities and trying to plan for each of them.

Some of our program presenters have canceled their upcoming programs, so we strongly recommend that you either check the Library website or call 847-663-1234 to make sure that your program is still going on. We don’t want you to be disappointed!

Finally, if you are experiencing any of the COVID-19 symptoms (dry cough, fever, shortness of breath) please do not come to the Library. Also, if you are in a high risk group, you may want to consider postponing your trip to the Library—as a public gathering place, it is not as safe for high risk individuals. You can stream movies, download books, read magazines and newspapers, play music and do research through our online resources from your nice safe home instead. You’ll find all of them here: www.nileslibrary.org/explore

Wishing you all good health!

Susan Dove Lempke
Executive Director
