Mark Albers Discusses Why He is Running for Trustee of the VIllage of Morton Grove

I am excited to use my business and public service experience to restore integrity, honesty, and ethics to Morton Grove Village government

I am running for the office of Morton Grove Trustee for a number of reasons. Most of all, I believe that Morton Grove residents need an independent voice in government, one that is not an echo to a party line.

As an independent consultant, I provide clients suggestions and programs to improve their business. This involves analyzing strengths and weaknesses, proposing changes and gaining approval from senior management. We then create a plan and execute it. I negotiate deals for my clients on a daily basis that are mutually beneficial to them and their clients for the long term. We work together to create a plan to move forward.

I believe that one of the most important obligations of the board of trustees is to create an environment all businesses will embrace, not just a favored few. We need to remove the political status quo of appointing friends of the party and political contributors to positions of power. I will work to seek out businesses, large and small, that fit fiscally within our community and align with our morals and values. Morton Grove can be a great place to conduct business, raise a family and enjoy life. We need businesses that drive sales tax revenues which lowers the resident tax burdens, not more vacant stores and empty promises.

In the nearly 30 years that I have lived here community service has been at the forefront for my family and myself. I have volunteered in various PTA activities at both Hynes and Golf Middle schools . Our family is active at St Martha Parish where I was Parish Council President and continue to volunteer on the Parish Finance Committee. I serve on the Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce Board as its President.

I was elected to the Morton Grove Library Board and spearheaded an extensive remodel of the library which cost only 10% of a new facility. I am currently the Library Board President and we have a strategic plan in place now to carry the library into the future.
