Mom Of 12-Year-Old Boy On Scooter Ticketed After Morton Grove Crash

The boy was driving illegally with a passenger on the back when he was hit by an SUV, police said.

MORTON GROVE, IL — The mother of a 12-year-old boy was issued a citation after he was hit by an SUV while riding a motorized scooter in the street in Morton Grove last week. According to police reports, emergency personnel were called to the intersection between Davis Street and Parkside on Sept. 17 shortly before 6 p.m., the Morton Grove Champion reported.

Police said an SUV driven by a 30-year-old Glen Ellyn woman told them she struck the scooter after it ran a stop sign, while the boy said he did not notice the vehicle and admitted he failed to stop at the stop sign, according to the paper.

The 12-year-old Morton Grove resident and a passenger riding on the back of his scooter were treated for minor injuries at Luther General Hospital, police said. The driver was uninjured but her car sustained moderate damage.
