Morton Grove Man Accused of Stealing Thousands From Aunt With Dementia
Jim Dimayuga exploited the elderly woman for more than $100,000 by writing checks to himself as her power of attorney, police said.

MORTON GROVE, IL - A Morton Grove man is accused of ripping off his elderly aunt.
Police charged Jim Dimayuga, 54, of the 8300 block of Callie Avenue in October on a charge of felony exploitation of the elderly after allegedly transferring money from the 84-year-old’s bank accounts to his to pay for gambling and other personal expenses, according to a report from the Morton Grove Champion.
Police said Dimayuga obtained more than $100,000 through multiple bank transfers involving three banks over a 10-month period beginning in December 2015.

He allegedly took the aunt, who has dementia, to the banks and have her transfer money to another account, and Dimayuga, as her power of attorney, would write checks to himself.
The investigation started when one of the banks noticed Dimayuga tried to get permission to liquidate her $800,000 investment account.
