Morton Grove Public Library Awarded Grant for Senior Services

Morton Grove Public Library has created a new series called Let's Get Together! thanks to a grant from AgeOptions awarded to enhance and innovate current programming for older adults. The series has been designed in order to connect older adults with one another and important information. As a result, Let's Get Together! will provide an ample amount of opportunities to meet new people, learn about important topics like healthcare, get creative and much more!

All programs are free of charge.

Let’s Get Together! Kick Off Event: Storytelling with Anne Shimojima
Friday, December 14th 11:00am
Held at the American Legion Memorial Civic Center of Morton Grove (6140 Dempster)
Professional storyteller since 1982, and a Morton Grove resident, Anne Shimojima will inspire the audience with funny, moving, sad, and magical stories. Anne’s 35 years as an elementary school library media specialist and decades of performing have given her a deep understanding of the universal truths we can all find in story. Lunch will be served after to give time for attendees to connect with their neighbors. Registration is required.

Telling a Life Story

Everybody’s life story is worth telling and can be told in different ways, whether as a written memoir, an oral history, or even a scrapbook. Come learn how to get started on your own or that of your loved ones using library resources, including our specialized recording equipment.

Plus, while attending Let’s Get Together! events, make sure to pick up a punch card and get it marked by a staff member. Once older adults attend 12 Let’s Get Together! branded programs, while supplies last, they will receive a gift card to take a friend out for coffee or tea!
