The Music Box Will Replace Capone’s Hideout in Niles

New bar catered to those in their 50s and 60s cleared to open on Milwaukee Avenue.

NILES, IL - Another bar will open at a Milwaukee Avenue location where two previous establishments have been accused of having patrons that haven’t shown their best behavior while spending time there.

Lucian Janikowski, owner of the Village Motel told Niles village trustees about the many times patrons at the nearby Capone’s Hideout and Village Cafe and Pub were found “drinking, screaming, running from lot to lot, urinating and having sex,” according to a Niles Herald-Spectator report.

But that didn’t stop the trustees from unanimously granting a special use permit for The Music Box, a full-service restaurant and cocktail lounge that plans to open at the 6871 Milwaukee Ave. address both Capone’s Hideout and Village Cafe and Pub had.

Janikowski’s daughter told the board of her concerns regarding the new place’s plans for an outdoor space and the noise that comes with it, but an attorney for The Music Box said the restaurant - which will be open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and 4 a.m. on Saturdays - will cater to clientele in their 50s and 60s.

Free dance classes, guest DJs and movie showings will accompany the food and drinks at the new business.
