Niles Free Bus May Charge Or Get Cut
Trustees will look at its $555,000 expense at their June meeting.

Some Niles residents have criticized the village's subsidizing the Niles Free Bus, also called the Niles Courtesy Bus, to the tune of $555,000.
Niles trustees may implement and 10 cents for seniors and the disabled, or they may trim service. They're likely to look at the issue in their June meeting.

Trustees had proposed trimming routes and service hours months ago, but Village Manager George Van Geem said he's been waiting for Pace to determine how it will implement its Arterial Rapid Transit, an express bus system, in Niles, the Bugle Newspaper reported.
