Niles-Maine District Board President Addresses Library Closing

As you likely already know, the Niles-Maine District Library is closed, along with all the schools in the state, and many businesses and places of work and worship, in order to decrease the spread of the Coronavirus. I am sure that with the school closings, many of you had hoped to use the Library as a place to continue the education of your children. However, at this point, limiting places for people to congregate is in everyone’s best interest to keep us safe.

I commend the staff of our Library for doing their best to help contain this disease and, at the same time, provide a continued, although limited, high level of service to our community during the closing.

It is important to know that even though the Library is closed, there is lot to explore right on this website. Check out Lynda.com to learn at home; Hoopla for movies and music; Libby for ebooks and audiobooks; and Flipster and PressReader for digital magazines and newspapers. Spend some time searching through what our Library digitally provides and you will find numerous literary, music and writing sites. To find all of the online resources, click here. I think you will be surprised at all the Library has to offer outside of its physical building and materials.

I wish you all well and pray for the world’s speedy recovery from the Coronavirus.
