Niles Officer Gives Homeless Man Shoes Off His Own Feet
The man couldn't believe it when Officer Brian Zagorski stopped to offer him his own shoes, police said.

NILES, IL — A Niles police officer gave a homeless man the shoes off his own feet last weekend. Police said Officer Brian Zagorski encountered the man walking along the 8100 block of Park Street around 5:15 p.m. on Saturday and noticed him trip over his shoe, which was missing a sole.
Zagorski struck up a conversation with the man, and after speaking briefly, decided to donate his own shoes directly off his feet. The man said he "couldn't believe" that the officer gave up his shoes, according to Cmdr. Robert Tornabene.
Zagorski also offered the man additional assistance, including a bag of donated clothes and toiletries, but the man politely declined and went on his way with a new pair of shoes, according to Tornabene.
