Niles Park District Board President Resigns
Chris Zalinski submitted his resignation as a Niles Park District commissioner Thursday.

From the Niles Park District: Christopher Zalinski resigned as President of the Niles Park District Board of Commissioners. He also stepped down as a commissioner of the Park District Board. Zalinski’s resignation, submitted July 18th, takes effect immediately.
Zalinski cited personal reasons for his decision.
“I am so grateful for my time on the board,” said Zalinski. “I want to thank the voters of the Niles Park District for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Park District Board. I am so proud of all we accomplished as a team and I have no doubt the Niles Park District’s future will have many more successes.”

According to state law, the opening will be filled by a majority vote of the remaining board members.
“We are looking for qualified people who are willing to serve the District as a new commissioner,” said Tom Elenz, the District’s Executive Director. “People who would like to step forward should send us their resumes and a statement of interest. Vice President Julie Genualdi will chair the next board meeting. At that meeting, the board will elect a new President and fill any necessary officer vacancies. If sufficient resumes have been received and reviewed, the board may also fill the Zalinski vacancy.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 6 PM Tuesday, August 20 at the Howard Leisure Center, 6676 W. Howard St. in Niles.
