Niles Police Take Polar Plunge

Niles Police and Village of Niles Participate in the Polar Plunge

Niles, IL – A joint Niles Police Department/Village of Niles team participated this year's charity polar plunge Sunday.

The joint team raised $2,527.65 for Special Olympics Illinois. Participants braved the cold waters of Lake Michigan at Northwestern University Beach in Evanston at about 1 p.m. on Feb. 18, according to police.

Police say the Special Olympics Illinois Law Enforcement Polar Plunge is just the beginning of their fundraising efforts this year.

Future events include the "Cop on Top", the "Torch Run" and the "Plane Pull."

Participants included Ronald Brant, Vince Genualdi, Dena Ratajczyk, John Pistorius, Michael Shulkin, Hadley Skeffington-Vos, Katy Darr, and Kate Wilamska (who raised funds but was unable to participate due to being sick, according to police.)
