"Difference maker" Mike Brokenshire signed on as AAD for Michael Hennessey's respected program in August

Notre Dame College Prep in Niles is proud to announce the selection of faculty member Mike Brokenshire as Assistant Athletic Director. He joins the Athletics Department under the leadership of Coach Michael Hennessey, longtime Athletic Director and head football coach.

“I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to combine my passion for sports and education in this way, and to learn from and work with someone as respected and accomplished as Coach Hennessey,” says Brokenshire, who has taught social studies and coached sports at NDCP since 2015. “I’ve always believed that hard work is the foundation of success and no one exemplifies that better than he does.”

Brokenshire practices what he preaches and knows how to work hard to achieve a goal. He recently earned his Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Notre Dame, while also teaching full-time and coaching track and cross country.

Hennessey, for his part, is just as pleased with the addition of Mike to his team. “Mike is a hard-working individual whose passion for both education and sports provide him with the perfect skill set for this position,” says Hennessey. “I’ve seen the inspiration he has brought to the students he’s taught and the teams he’s coached and I look forward to his contributions to NDCP Athletics on a larger-scale. He’s a difference maker.”

Brokenshire, who will continue teaching and coaching, has already hit the ground running in his new role. Brokenshire, who grew up in nearby Westchester, Illinois, received his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Social Science Education from Saint Mary’s University in Minnesota. Prior to joining the faculty at NDCP, Brokenshire taught at St. Joseph High School, his high school alma mater, for nearly five years.

Sponsored by the Brothers of Holy Cross, Midwest Province and located on 28-acres in Niles, Illinois, NDCP provides students with its core pillars of faith, scholarship and service, and the challenging curriculum meets the individual needs of a diverse student body.
