Parks Commissioner Should Stand for Pledge, Readers Say
We asked readers last week what they thought of a Morton Grove parks commissioner's decision not to stand during the pledge of allegiance at board meetings.

Last week we posted an article about how Morton Grove Park Board Commissioner Dan Ashta is being criticized for not standing up during the Pledge of Allegiance at park board meetings.
Readers let us know in no uncertain terms that they disapprove of Ashta's actions. There were more than 20 comments on the story, nearly unanimous in their condemnation of Ashta. Here's a sampling:
Ray Czarnik wrote: "Without a doubt it is very disrespectful to our Country. ... People arent stupid, they will remember this at Election time."
Rosemarie Alioto weighed in with a clear message: "He should be removed immediately"
And Diane wrote: "if you cannot respect the few traditions we have, then do not run for public office. Again you don't have to say anything, just show respect for others beliefs."
