With reference to Malaysia flight 370, the murder/suicide scenario is a possibility however what also makes sense is hijacking the jet and it's passengers and landing in Pakistan supported by that country's Militant Islamic Teliban,i.e., Tehirk-Teliban Pakistan, (TTP).
I believe it's also important to know that Pakistan's closest military and economic ally is China, both countries have an ongoing free trade agreement. Conversely the U.S., has become unpopular in Pakistan due to it's hundreds if drone attacks on Pakistan's Northwest Territory which is populated by the Teliban. You may also recall that Pakistan is where the US Navy Seals found and killed Osama bin laden the head of al-Qaeda.
The abovementioned Teliban vowed retaliation for bin Laden's death.
