SJB School hosts inaugural Oktoberfest/Family & Alumni Weekend
The St. John Brebeuf Parish and School Community is excited to welcome back alumni from the school's 65 years of existence.

St. John Brebeuf School will host its inaugural Oktoberfest/Family & Alumni Weekend from Friday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 22. The event will feature an 11-ride carnival on the school/parish campus.

Unlimited ride passes for each of the carnival's four sessions may be purchased in the St. John Brebeuf School office for $20 each from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday. To purchase an unlimited ride pass at a different time, please call the school office at 847-966-3266. Festival hours are Friday, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Carnival rides will operate from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
The St. John Brebeuf Parish and School Community is excited to welcome back alumni from the school's 65 years of existence, according to Dr. Mary Maloney, SJB School Principal. “SJB parishioners, past and present, are warmly encouraged to join us along with the entire Village of Niles and surrounding communities,” she said, adding that the it is the hope of the SJB Parish and School that this annual event evolves into the area's premier Oktoberfest celebration. “It is your attendance that will give this festival a unique energy all its own,” she concluded.

In addition to a variety of Oktoberfest food and drinks, the festival will feature live bands each day. On Friday, Off The Record, a Chicago-based cover band, will perform from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The feature act on Saturday, Wall of Denial, a Stevie Ray Vaughan cover band will perform from 3 to 5 p.m. On Sunday, the Ed Wagner Brass Band will play German music from 3 to 5 p.m. A live DJ will take requests for the remainder of the festival. Tours of the school will be offered to alumni and prospective new families. Games and well as face-painting for children and adults will also be available.
