"Sweet Home Chicago" Grand Opening Weekend

Niles Public Library District will be kicking off the Sweet Home Chicago: The History of America’s Candy Capital exhibit with a special Grand Opening Weekend, Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6.

On Saturday, March 5 from 2-3pm, enjoy the sweet sounds of doo-wop from the 50s and pop music from the 60s with your favorite barber-shoppers, The Convertibles. On Sunday, March 6 from 2-3:30pm, come have some delicious fun as you learn the history of Chicago candy with Sweet Home Chicago Curator, Leslie Goddard.. First 25 people to arrive to each event will receive a free Affy Tapple. Patrons are also given the chance to win a gift basket from the Georgia Nut Company.

Visitors to the Niles Public Library District will discover Chicago’s sweet history when they experience the delicious exhibit, Sweet Home Chicago: The History of America’s Candy Capital, on display in the Library’s Franklin Gallery on the 3rd Floor from March 1 through May 31. Sweet Home Chicago chronicles Chicago’s candy crafting legacy in an engaging, interactive exhibit for all ages.
