"Sweet Home Chicago" Grand Opening Weekend

Niles Public Library District will be kicking off the Sweet Home Chicago: The History of America’s Candy Capital exhibit with a special Grand Opening Weekend, Saturday, March 5 and Sunday, March 6.
On Saturday, March 5 from 2-3pm, enjoy the sweet sounds of doo-wop from the 50s and pop music from the 60s with your favorite barber-shoppers, The Convertibles. On Sunday, March 6 from 2-3:30pm, come have some delicious fun as you learn the history of Chicago candy with Sweet Home Chicago Curator, Leslie Goddard.. First 25 people to arrive to each event will receive a free Affy Tapple. Patrons are also given the chance to win a gift basket from the Georgia Nut Company.
Visitors to the Niles Public Library District will discover Chicago’s sweet history when they experience the delicious exhibit, Sweet Home Chicago: The History of America’s Candy Capital, on display in the Library’s Franklin Gallery on the 3rd Floor from March 1 through May 31. Sweet Home Chicago chronicles Chicago’s candy crafting legacy in an engaging, interactive exhibit for all ages. Niles Public Library District is located at 6960 W. Oakton St. at the northeast corner of the Oakton and Waukegan. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 am – 9 pm, Friday, 9 am – 7 pm, Saturday, 9 am – 5 pm and Sunday, 1 – 5 pm.
