VIDEO: A Day to Play, Dig and Sled in Morton Grove

Morton Grove Patch hit the streets on Wednesday to find out how residents reacted to the snow storm.

Tuesday's wintry blizzard left most of Morton Grove in a snowy blockade on Wednesday. Morton Grove Patch took to the streets to find out how residents reacted.

Those with snow blowers, like Robert Hernandez, offered to help out neighbors as they shoveled out their cars and driveways.

We caught Fire Chief Tom Friel at Village Hall as he worked on an update with Village Administrator Joe Wade. Friel said the three services -- public works, fire and police -- worked in coordination "without a hitch" on Tuesday.

Some used the snow day as a worthy excuse to go sledding or dig snow tunnels. A handful of boys showed Patch the imaginary "family room with flatscreen TV" in their snow igloo.

Public Works drivers in charge of snow plows took a break on Wednesday afternoon to catch a nap before they plan to hit the streets again on Thursday morning.

Village officials ask that residents move their cars off the streets to make for easier plowing and when possible, to dig out fire hydrants near their homes for safety.
