Walkathon 2014 , Spirit Week and Homecoming Festivities

Walkathon 2014, Spirit Week and Homecoming At Notre Dame College Prep.

As part of Spirit Week (September 22-26), Walkathon 2014 was held on September 25 at Notre Dame College Prep at 7655 West Dempster Street in Niles. The students, faculty and staff dressed in matching green t-shirts, walked throughout the neighborhood around school and played a variety of games. Prior to the start of the day, they formed a human Cross and Anchor on the school’s football field. The Cross and Anchor is the symbol of the Congregration of Holy Cross, Indiana Province which founded the school 60 years ago. Although no longer under the auspices of the CSCs as they are known, the school does follow their ideals of faith, scholarship and service.

Walkathon 2014 ended with a pep rally featuring the NDCP Pep Club and Cheerleaders. Final totals were not yet available but the goal of the Walkathon is to raise funds for the 32 clubs and activities at NDCP.

Spirit Week featured a variety of fun activities such as Sports Shirt Day, Hawaiian Shirt Day, College Shirt Day, the Walkathon and Homecoming game which will be held at 7:30 pm on September 26. The Dons will take on St. Viator. The community is welcome to attend, especially Alumni Dons. There will be a special Alumni Tent set up at the north end of the football stadium and a celebration in the cafeteria for all Alumni Dons. At the half time of the Varsity game, special recognition will be given to Alumni Football Teams celebrating significant milestones - the Class of 1964 (50 years), the Class of 1989 (25 years) and the Class of 2009 (5 years).
