Will Democrats Choose GOP Ballots?

Illinois voters can take either a Democratic or Republican ballot; some sources speculate that since the Republican race is hotter, some Democrats may take Republican ballots.

 

Ready to head to the polls? The hotly-contested Republican primary in Illinois is drawing interest even from Democratics and independents. Some political observers think those voters may choose a Republican ballot, according to Medill Reports Chicago. 

Illinois voters don't have to declare a political party to vote. In every primary election, polling place election judges ask voters which ballot they would like, and they can choose Republican or Democratic.

Billy Dennis, who writes the Peoria Pundit blog, is telling Illinois Democrats it's their patriotic duty to choose an Republican ballot. If they can tilt Illinois for Santorum, he adds, President Obama would "destroy" him in November.
